I absolutely love Memorial Day. I don't know why, but out of all the Patriotic holidays (okay so there's only like 4), this one is my favorite. When I was a kid, we always watched the Memorial Day Parade and had a family cookout afterwards because we lived right on the road that they marched down. It's one of my fondest childhood memories.
This year I was bound and determined to get to the parade with Patrick. This is one tradition I will not screw up. The couple that was supposed to join us bailed, and so did Jeff. My own husband! So naturally I texted everyone I knew so I could have some damn company at the parade. Fortunately I did end up finding some great friends kids to hang out with me as you can see. We even had an amateur photography lesson.
I did find some of my real adult friends that I went to high school with...they have kids too, so ya know, we can still be friends.
Now mind you, it was a smoldering 88° even at 9 o'clock in the morning - I just kept pouring water on Pat's head and kept him in the stroller with a sun cover over him. He had a 4 x 4 inch box to look out of to see all the excitement of the parade. Poor kid. But my mom is a
Oh yeah, my sister had a get-together over the weekend. It was my job to bring buns, sliced tomatoes, and lettuce. Yawn.
I amped it up a bit and made a dessert I've been eyeing for a while in my Pampered Chef's All the Best cookbook. Isn't it dreamy?
It was freaking delicious. I had one slice at Lindsay's and one slice when I got home.
