planning a birthday party

Once again, I realize we're three months away from Patrick's 2nd birthday, but I must begin gathering ideas right now.  And after doing some mild research (oh, two hours) it's a good thing I'm starting now because I'm having a really hard time finding what I have in my mind.

I'm not a theme kind of girl but I do like colors, which makes for an easy jumping off point.  Last year I chose mint and white (loved it).  This year will be red and blue.  I think...

I looooooove this invitation and actually considered getting it last year but felt it was a little old for a one year old, but this year it's perfect.  It's definitely the one. 

 

Stripey straws are a must, even if they don't get used.  They're so damn adorable.

No clue what I can put in these but they're fun.  Popcorn?  OMG, we're having a popcorn machine.

 

A huge balloon will also be in order, along with a hundred other small ones.  Balloons = party time.

 





Do you think this is too "4th of July" looking?  Everyone is doing those stupid birthday banners these days (which I actually would consider if I found one I liked), but I'm really digging this fabric garland for something different.  It would be super for a photo backdrop too.
