movie review (way late): Breaking Dawn: Part 2

I'll admit it:  I'm a total Twihard and obviously saw this movie opening weekend.  Twice.  And I cannot wait to buy it on DVD and watch it for two days straight.

If you saw Breaking Dawn: Part 1, then maybe you agree that it was better than part 2?  I was very satisfied with part 2 in general - there were a lot of good scenes (and a couple phenomenal scenes) and the werewolves were awesome as usual.  I can't say too much just in case you haven't seen it (or won't see it, ever), but the scene the producers add that wasn't in the book completely makes the movie.  Part 2 as a whole would have been crap without it.

Bella was tough as nails as a vampire.  Seriously, she does amazing.

On the flip side, some of the scenes were disappointing.  My mind just plain imagined them better than they could portray through acting.  (Speaking of the acting, it was pretty rough...)

I am very happy with the actress who played Renesmee - she was awesome, even though she didn't have many lines.  She didn't need them - her facial expressions said it all.

Overall, I love love love the Twilight Saga.  My favorite one out of all five?

NEW MOON!

I'm not particularly Team Jacob, but I am Team Long Hair on a Native American Werewolf.

o christmas tree (you suck)

I have said this every year since I have owned a home, but I am serious this time.  I WILL NEVER BUY A REAL CHRISTMAS TREE EVER AGAIN.  I'm buying a fake one after Christmas so I can get the stupid thing on sale, and then we will live in the light of fakeness the whole season next year.

Just a few of my complaints:

  • It's lopsided.
  • It never quite gets balanced.
  • It almost kills my child.
  • I almost get killed saving my child.
  • It topples and breaks a cherished ornament.  Last year, it was from our honeymoon.  This year, it was one that was handmade from a student.
  • There are bare spots.
  • I sweep.  I vacuum.  I sweep.  I vacuum.

Ugh!  Ugh!  I hate Christmas!!

I really do.  It drives me nuts.  Where is Easter?  Spring, eggs, candy, Jesus is Risen.  Amen.

Despite the wretched afternoon, our morning was simply splendid.  Jeff and I have made it a tradition to go to church and then go pick out our tree.  Last year, Patrick slept through the whole thing.  This year, he was feeling the trees and taking in the scenery.

"A Griswold family Christmas."

there was a trampoline

Ten years old!  My little Madison turned ten years old!  She was three when I started babysitting her.  Of all the growing up she has done in that time, this birthday party was the most change I have seen.  She is officially a tween:  tall, beautiful, and completely distracted.

The weather here in Ohio was amazing for the party!  We were able to go outside, run around, and play on the swingset and the trampoline that a certain someone will beg me to buy someday.

Happy 10th birthday, Madison.  I love you!

all of the sudden, things have really changed

Gah!  Look at my used-to-be infant, wrapped up like a little burrito.  You know how people say "where did the time go?"

I never thought I'd say that, mainly because I genuinely tried to live in the moment and cherish Patrick at every stage of babyhood.

But here I am wondering how he got so huge!  Watching him eat his dinner tonight, I realized he really is beginning to look older.

It only bothers me when I think long and hard about it.  On a daily basis, there is nothing more joyful than watching him learn and grow and play.  And when he brings me a book saying "read you," I know that I have to cherish these moments too.  The ones that I'll be looking back on in another year wishing I could just have one more of.
